Data in this network is based on the initial State of the Union or similar speech delivered by each president, with the exception of those who died in office before delivering this type of address. Data was sourced from the American Presidency Project. The text from each speech was then analyzed using Aylien's entity extraction tool.
The keywords, organization, and location matches were then downloaded and converted into node and edge files for ingestion by Gephi. After using the modularity class plugin in Gephi, the results were exported to sigma.js in a .gexf format for the final visualizations.
